Petro
Marine Services is a wholly-owned subsidiary
of Harbor Enterprises, Inc. Harbor and its affiliates
are fueling an ever-growing share of Alaska's and northwestern
Canada's petroleum needs. The company historically has
focused on marketing and distributing petroleum products to
support the fishing industry from Alaska's ice-free ports.
While the marine industry remains the company's largest market,
it has embarked on an aggressive diversification effort and
now markets to the logging, mining, tourism, transportation,
utilities and petroleum industries. It also markets
home heating fuel and operates retail gasoline stations.
Harbor Enterprises' hallmark always has been the high
quality of petroleum products and services it provides
its customers. The company is owned by Dale
and Carol Lindsey, who were both born and raised in Seward,
Alaska, and acquired it in 1959. Dale serves as Owner
and Chairman of the Board of Harbor Enterprises, Inc.; Carol
is the owner and chief Administrative Officer and Secretary
Treasurer.
Founded in Seward in 1936 as Andy's Oil Delivery, the small
town home heating fuel delivery service has grown to become
the largest and one of the oldest independent petroleum distributorships
in Alaska. Dale Lindsey joined Andy's in 1956 as a truck
driver. With the purchase of Chevron USA's bulk fuel
facilities in Seward in 1982, Harbor took its first giant
step toward becoming a major marine fuel supplier. The
company entered a period of dramatic growth in 1984 with construction
of a bulk fuel terminal in Dutch Harbor, the key port for
fishing fleets in the North Pacific Ocean and the Bering Sea.
That's when marine operations were consolidated under the
trade name Petro Marine Services.
Since
then, Harbor's operations have spread throughout Southcentral
and Southeast Alaska and northwestern Canada through a series
of acquisitions and internal growth. Today, Harbor Enterprises
includes Petro Marine Services, marketing throughout Southcentral
and Southeast Alaska; Alaska Oil Sales,
marketing fuel from Kenai and Soldotna; North
60º Petro Ltd., a bulk fuel and distribution company serving
the Yukon Territory and northern British Columbia; and Petro
Express, Alaska's newest network of service stations.
The
company is headquartered in Seward. Petroleum products
and services are offered at terminals in Craig,
Homer, Juneau,
Kenai, Ketchikan,
Kodiak, Petersburg,
Sitka, Skagway,
Soldotna and Whitehorse.
The company also operates marketing offices in Anchorage.
